ANGELES City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. recently extended assistance to the Angeles City Anti-Drug Abuse Council.

The donation of 100 boxes of milk formula for ages six months to six years old was handed over to Angeles City Anti-Drug Abuse Council Chief Ricky Saul by Clark International Airport Corp. Vice President for Operations IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel.

The personal donation worth P22,000 is intended for the children of offenders who are undergoing reformation at city’s Balay Silangan Reformation Center.

The Balay Silangan Reformation Center is a brainchild of former Director General Aaron Aquino of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency to reform illegal drugs offenders.

The Angeles City Government headed by Lazatin last year established its own Balay Silangan to further the city’s anti-illegal drug campaign and achieved its goal of clearing the city of illegal drugs.

“Malaking bagay ang donation na ito para makadagdag sa tulong na binibigay ng syudad sa pamilya ng mga offenders na nakatira ngayon sa ating Balay Silangan,” Saul said.

Helping children are among the advocacy of Calaguas and Manuel.

To date, 140 drug offenders have already graduated from the Balay Silangan Reformation Center. There are still 28 who are currently housed at the center. (PR)
