Aroma Art Gallery hosted a group exhibit which ran from June 27 to July 11. The art exhibit, dubbed “Existence,” is the gallery’s fourth since it opened on Feb. 18.

“Existence” gathered a variety of artworks from 12 artists: Jonathan Abellana, Ariel Caratao, Reynan Dingal, Ramon V. de Dios, Jayme “Bong” A. Francisco, Kenneth Gequillo, Malvin Lim, John Mark Llanos, Clint P. Normandia, Roxanne Normandia, Melbourne “Cocoy” Paano and Garry Allen Watin.

The art gallery is one of the many projects of the Aroma Art Group, a collective of artists based in Toledo City.

The group is also behind Aroma Art Atelier, a school of Renaissance art headed by renowned artist Orley Ypon.

With “Existence,” the gallery opened its doors to artists outside of its usual circle for the first time.

The central theme for the exhibit focused on “the fellowship of humanity and nature,” according to its statement.

This is evident in Abellana’s painting “A New Beginning.” Abellana’s work is a reflection on the pandemic, and how people have stayed resilient, just like bamboo trees. For Gequillo, he believes in art as his way of expressing how “simple things around us can be beautiful.”

De Dios was all praises for the event, highlighting the venue as “one of the best art galleries not only here in Toledo City or Cebu, but perhaps in the whole archipelago.”

“It was a pleasure to be part of ‘Existence,’” Llanos remarked.

Aroma Art Gallery is located at Maxi J Building, Purok Ipil-Ipil, Dumlog, Toledo City, Cebu.
