53 Cagayan de Oro residents contract coronavirus

THE Cagayan de Oro Health Office recorded 53 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases, all of which were local transmissions, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the city to 10,789.

Of the 53 new local cases, 41 were local index cases, eight were close contacts of previously confirmed cases, three were local authorized persons outside residence (Apors), and one mortality.

Cagayan de Oro logged 936 active cases, 337 of whom were admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center and other hospitals in the city, and 599 were outpatients.

The city also registered 77 new coronavirus-positive persons who were already tagged as "recovered," bringing the total number of recoveries in Cagayan de Oro to 9,343.

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the city was now at 510.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus-positive vaccinated individuals in Cagayan de Oro was already at 1,046, city epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya reported.

According to Retuya, of the 1,046 vaccinees, 697 were vaccinated with Sinovac vaccine, 256 were vaccinated with AstraZeneca, 76 with Pfizer, 14 with Sputnik V, and three Sinopharm.

Of the 697 Covid-positive Sinovac vaccinees, 505 individuals were experiencing mild symptoms, 144 were asymptomatic, 44 were moderate cases, and four were severe cases.

Among the 256 AstraZeneca vaccinees, 174 individuals had mild symptoms, 60 were asymptomatic, 21 had moderate symptoms, and one was a severe case.
