DAR-Negros Occidental supports poverty reduction program

THE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Negros Occidental-North has taken part in the poverty reduction initiative of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) in Barangay Canlusong, E.B. Magalona town on Wednesday, July 14, 2021.

Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Teodoro Che Salido, who spoke at the activity held at the barangay's public plaza, said the partnership with other national government agencies (NGAs) manifests the country's goal of reducing poverty.

"One of DAR's vision is to implement, facilitate and coordinate the delivery of support services to its ARBs," he said, adding that "the Tulong-Tulong Para sa Pag-asenso ng Barangay Canlusong of the Tesda is in line with our mandate thus, we fully support this endeavor."

The Tesda and Barangay Canlusong have converged with various members of the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) including the DAR.

They will be providing skills training and other livelihood intervention program for the marginalized and vulnerable sectors in the barangay.

The PRLEC of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-Elcac) aims to provide responsive measures to address poverty among marginalized communities and basic sectors.

Also, it aims to balance the equitable resources of distribution and create dynamic, economic, livelihood and income opportunities through a whole-of-nation approach.

Other participating-groups and agencies included the Municipal Government of E.B. Magalona, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of the Local Interior and Local Government, Philippine National Police, 79th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Information Agency, Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Public Works and Highways, and the Department of Agriculture.
