THE Project Balik Buhay (PBB) announced that its vaccination centers will be closed on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 in observance of Eid’l Adha.

Regular operations will resume on Wednesday, July 21.

Republic Act 0849 states that the 10th day of Zhul Hijja, or the 12th month of the Islamic calendar, is a national holiday to honor Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham in the Christian world) for his willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail as an act of obedience to Allah.

The PBB runs vaccination centers at the University of San Carlos-Talamban Campus, the Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital, the Visayas Community Medical Center, the SM City Cebu and SM Seaside City Cebu, the Chong Hua Hospital-Mandaue, the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, the University of Cebu Medical Center, the ARC Hospital, the Mactan Doctors’ Hospital, the Toyota Lapu-Lapu, the Mendero Medical Center, Toyota Talisay City, as well as the PBB IEC Vaccination MegaCenter.

The PBB said that based on the latest instruction of the Department of Health (DOH) and the National Task Force against Covid-19, the PBB vaccination initiative can only accommodate employees from companies or organizations in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu, Talisay, Naga and the towns of Consolacion and Minglanilla.

All applications from companies or organizations located outside the above-mentioned Metro Cebu local government units whose employees or members have not yet been vaccinated by PBB will be endorsed and referred to their respective LGU and the local city health department.

The PBB vaccination initiative, as of Thursday, July 14, has administered a total of 98,804 doses of Covid-19 vaccine to 68,706 individuals, of whom, 27,149 are already fully vaccinated.

According to its website, the PBB “is a public-private partnership working upon the request of the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas, Inter-Agency Task Force-Visayas and the DOH 7 to assist the government’s National Vaccination Program with the common goal to help and support the government in achieving a safe, fast and successful” vaccine rollout in Cebu and the Visayas.
