FERRY services plying the Bacolod City to Iloilo City and Dumangas are affected due to the recent escalation of Iloilo City and Iloilo Province to the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

Frank Carbon, operator of Weesam Express, said due to the low number of passengers, trips between Bacolod City and Iloilo City are presently limited only to one roundtrip daily.

Carbon also affirmed that one of three fastcraft companies plying the said route has also decided to temporarily halt its services.

For those who are planning to travel to Iloilo, Carbon said there are no travel requirements.

However, in order for the passengers to avoid standing up while inside their vessel, Carbon advised travelers to eat, drink, and go to the toilet prior to boarding. That way, passengers will remain seated the entire trip and avoid removing their face masks and face shields.

Carbon also confirmed that the ferry crews, tellers, and porters have already been vaccinated against Covid-19.

The quarantine status in the province of Iloilo and its highly urbanized city has been elevated to the most restrictive enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from the more relaxed modified ECQ Friday last week.

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) made the reclassification upon the recommendations of the Department of Health, its Technical Advisory Group, and the Technical Working Group on the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) Variants.
