MORE than 100,000 individuals in Cebu City have received the first dose of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccine.

Data provided by Management Information and Computer Services (Mics) officer-in-charge Richter Castañares on Monday afternoon, July 19, 2021, show that a total of 105,272 individuals have been injected with the first dose, while 37,461 are fully vaccinated having received the second dose.

The numbers exclude those who were vaccinated in hospitals or under the Project Balik Buhay vaccination initiative.

The Cebu City Government has administered a total of 142,193 doses of Covid-19 vaccines since it began its vaccination program on March 24.

The Mics data also showed that 325,186 individuals have registered for the City’s vaccination program.

Cebu City currently has a population of around one million. It needs to vaccinate at least 70 percent to achieve herd immunity against the disease.

The Cebu City Public Information Office, on its Facebook page, announced that all vaccination sites run by City Government will be closed on Tuesday, July 20, in observance of Eid’l Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice.

The sites are located at the Ayala Center Cebu, the University of Cebu-Banilad and Alcantara campuses, Robinsons Galleria, SM Seaside and the New Normal Oasis for Adaptation and a Home Complex at the South Road Properties.

The City also vaccinated mountain residents at the Don Bosco Technical College in Barangay Punta Princesa, Bonbon barangay gym and the Cremdec building in Barangay Taptap.

Vaccination will resume on Wednesday, July 21. (JJL)
