Water firm to undertake road repairs

THE Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) is set to start Wednesday, July 21, repair work activities on three key injection points in Zamboanga City.

Engineer Marli de Fiesta, ZCWD Technical Services Group officer-in-charge, said these injection points are located along the west coast highway of the city.

De Fiesta said the repair work, which will last for 33 days, will involve the replacement of Ductile Iron covers and the concrete overlay to restore pavements.

De Fiesta said the work areas are located near a school and a gasoline station in Calarian village, in front of a food chain outlet at the intersection of Baliwasan Road and Suterville, in front of a Milktea outlet along San Jose Road, and in front of a gasoline station also along San Jose Road.

She said permission was granted to them by the City Traffic Operations Management Office headed by Assistant City Administrator Cesar Raz after a meeting with ZCWD officials on Friday, July 16, as barriers will be set up while repair work is in progress.

She said police personnel, village watchmen, and ZCWD personnel will manage the traffic at the sectional areas since a one-lane-two-way alternate traffic flow will be observed while repair work is underway.

De Fiesta reminded motorists to be aware of work barriers and exercise caution when approaching work sites. She appealed for patience and understanding while the repair works are underway.

She also emphasized that the repair works will not affect water service unless scheduled and announced. (SunStar Zamboanga)
