P87,000 shabu seized in Bacolod

AN ESTIMATED P87,000 worth of shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride were seized in separate drug busts conducted by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) in Bacolod City from June 15 and 16.

The operations led to the arrest of Rey Canselo, 32, of Barangay Rumirang, Isabela; Ronald Pasaporte, 36, of Barangay Alijis; Nino Castro, 27, of Barangay Mansilingan; Pearlseabal Novicio, 27, of Barangay Mansilingan; John Lester Gaturian, 22, of Barangay Vista Alegre; and Ma. Luth Tolentino, 42, of Barangay 2, all in Bacolod City.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of BCPO, said Canselo and his companions Pasaporte, Castro, and Novicio were arrested by operatives of City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) after they sold a sachet of shabu to a police undercover at Regent Pearl Subdivision, Barangay Alijis around 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 16.

Police recovered from the suspects' possession 10 sachets of shabu weighing five grams with estimated market value of P55,000, the P500 marked money, and drug paraphernalia.

Gaturian was also arrested by operatives of Police Station 6 in Purok Sunrise, Barangay Taculing around 11:11 p.m. Monday, June 15.

Police recovered from Gaturian's possession 10 sachets of shabu weighing 1.4 grams with estimated market value of P16,000, and the P500 marked money.

Tolentino was arrested by operatives of Police Station 2 in Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2 around 9:30 p.m. Monday.

Police recovered from Tolentino's possession six sachets of shabu weighing two grams with estimated market value of P16,000, and the P300 marked money.

Pico said the suspects are detained at the custodial facilities of Police Stations 2, 6, and 7 and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
