Oro to provide aid to individuals affected by ECQ status

CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno assured the public on Wednesday, July 21, that there will be assistance from both the National and City Government to those affected by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) status.

Moreno said he already instructed City Administrator Teddy Sabuga-a and Michael Fabello of the City Social Welfare and Development to coordinate with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque also promised aid from the National Government, the mayor added.

"Ganina sa press briefing ni Secretary Roque, sa closing statement niya, iyang gi-reiterate nga naa gyu'y tabang ang National Government. We welcome that," Moreno said.

"Of course, ang City pangitaag paagi pero di sad ingon nga ato na nang ibuhos dayon ang tanan natong resources," he added.

Moreno said he cannot use all of the City Government's resources on public assistance since the city still has several ongoing projects, such as the new Covid ward and laboratory in JR Borja General Hospital, as well as the hospital being constructed in Barangay Lumbia.

"All of these things will have to be paid as well," Moreno said.

He added that the city also needs the resources in case of another surge of Covid-19 cases.

"Ang importante is proper resource allocation," Moreno said.

"Mao nang maningkamot gyud ta nga kining ECQ mahuman na ni sa labing madaling panahon. The only way nga akong makita gyud nga as proof beyond doubt nga i-lift na ang ECQ is atong reduce ang cases. I-reduce nato ang cases, let's work double time," he added.

Meanwhile, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) vowed to provide assistance to businesses affected by the ECQ through the ECQ Assistance App.

The data registered in the app will be used as basis on what businesses will be given aid by the DOLE and DSWD.

All affected establishments are encouraged to access DOLE's Online Establishment Report System through its link: https://reports.dole.gov.ph.
