San Luis eyes completion of seniors' vaccination

THE local government of San Luis is targeting to complete the vaccination of all senior citizens in town by the end of July.

Mayor Jayson Sagum said he already sought the assistance of Governor Dennis Pineda for additional supply of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) vaccines.

"I've already talked to Governor (Dennis) Pineda and he said he cannot commit but will look for ways to grant our request," said Sagum.

As of Wednesday, July 21, the mayor said some 4,085 Luiseño elderly who are under the A2 priority group have yet to receive their Covid-19 vaccines.

If supply will be available, he said the around 800 vaccines will be rolled out per day to hit the target by July 31.

"Five hundred doses will be administered at our mega vaccination site in Poblacion area, while 300 will simultaneously be rolled out in the barangay via our mobile clinic," he said.

Sagum expressed hope that they will be able to hit the target, which will be dependent on the arrival of the vaccines.

"Our vaccination team and equipment are ready to word even on weekends and holidays to finally vaccinate all senior citizens so after them, we can move forward to the next priority groups," he said.
