These raised the Covid-19 death toll in the Philippines to 26,891. The case fatality rate remained at 1.76 percent.

The DOH has been reporting less than 100 deaths in a day since July 19, as follows: 72 deaths on July 19, 58 on July 20 and 32 on July 21.

The DOH case bulletin also listed 5,828 new cases on Thursday, bringing the total Covid-19 case count to 1,530,266. Eleven duplicates, including eight recoveries, were removed from the count.

Although five laboratories failed to submit their data on July 20, testing output improved to 47,869. The positivity rate remained high at 12 percent.

There were 3,257 new recoveries, bringing the total to 1,452,813.

The number of active cases went up to 50,562, of which 92.7 percent were mild, 1.5 percent were critical, 2.5 percent were severe, 1.74 percent were moderate and 1.6 percent were asymptomatic.

The DOH warned that details of cases reported in the July 22 case bulletin may not be updated because technical issues continue to hound the CovidKaya surveillance system. (Marites Villamor-Ilano / SunStar Philippines)
