Serving others amid pandemic: Arroyo, Mirasol urge people to get vaccinated

AMID the Covid-19 pandemic, which goes tougher as the days go by, Negros Occidental Fifth District Representative Maria Lourdes "Marilou" T. Arroyo took the courage to see town Mayor Alejandro "Bebot" Mirasol and spouse Mary Ann and the village leaders held at the Covered Court beside the Binalbagan town hall on July 22 to release its requests about the basic needs of the people.

Despite the prevailing threat of the Covid-19 pandemic, the congresswoman zoomed to her district to lead the distribution of the jetmatic water pumps, computers, tables, and chairs and also led the inauguration of the newly built covered court at South Elementary School in the said town.

She also got to meet the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) scholars whom she assisted to undergo skills training that could help them earn a living in the future.

The solon got an updating of the prevailing needs of her constituents and likewise urged them to get inoculated by the Covid-19 vaccines to protect them from the risk of infection.

She said that she already completed her vaccination and also Mayor Mirasol and family.

The vaccine is very important considering that the Covid-19 virus knows no boundaries you be rich or poor.

"Our taking the courage to get vaccinated shows that we take part in ending this pandemic. We hope that our people will also do the same. We need to reach herd immunity so that we can all go back to normal," she said.

Mayor Mirasol said that they set up vaccination centers in their town to accommodate those who voluntarily come to get vaccinated. People still fear the vaccine. But with the continued education about how safe the vaccine is, eventually, people will realize the necessity of getting the vaccine.

The two officials jointly urged the people to take the necessary step towards getting the vaccination because only the vaccine can help mitigate the impact of this severe health risk.

The vaccination was also part of the conversations at the inauguration of South Elementary School where the attendees were prompted to help the government in encouraging the people to get vaccinated.
