THE Cebu Provincial Government signed on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with 13 new partner merchants and the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the second round of its Sugbo Negosyo program.

Along with the 34 merchants from the first round of the program, there are now 47 partners for the program’s second round.

The new partner firms include Akai Foods Inc., Asian Home Appliance, Atlas Cebu Corn Mill Corp., Agri Bounty Distribution Inc., Charoen Pokphand Foods Philippines Corp., Gaisano Brothers Inc., Gaisano Grand, Jacobs Basic First Venture, Uratex, Pacifica Agrivet, Prince Warehouse Inc., SM Appliance Center, and Visayan Educational Supply.

The second round of the Sugbo Negosyo program, which provides assistance to microenterprises in Cebu Province, has a budget allotment of P100 million.

The first round benefited more than 8,000 entrepreneurs in the province.

According to the Cebu Provincial Government, more partner merchants mean that beneficiaries of the second round of the Sugbo Negosyo will have more choices of retailers who will supply the products and services, for their chosen enterprises.

“We aspire for a program that would help the Cebuanos help themselves,” Cebu Gov. Garcia said during the MOA signing at the Capitol Social Hall.

Sugbo Negosyo is designed to be a sustainable program for the small Cebuano entrepreneurs as the province continues to recover from the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic. (NRC, PR)
