THE DEPARTMENT of Education (DepEd) Central Luzon sealed its partnership with the Police Regional Office (PRO) Central Luzon and the International Youth Fellowship (IYF) Philippines to lead and implement programs, projects, and activities geared towards the welfare and development of its young learners.

DepEd Central Luzon, through its regional director May B. Eclar, led the ceremonial signing of the two Memorandum of Agreement together with PRO Central Luzon Director POlice Brigadier General Valeriano T. de Leon and IYFP president Kyung Hyun “Abraham” Nam.

“Just like any other government agency, the Department of Education was bestowed with a gargantuan task, a huge and critical responsibility that is a brighter future for our young learners. As stewards of their future and as second parents to them, we are not only tasked to teach them how to read and write, or how to solve complex mathematical equations, but more importantly, we are responsible to mold them into God-fearing, responsible, and patriotic citizens who will be able to contribute meaningfully to building our nation,” Eclar said.

DepEd Central Luzon's partnership with PRO Central Luzon seeks to provide students with knowledge on the dangers of drug abuse; intensify information campaigns on illegal drug abuse; encourage and motivate students to actively engage in drug prevention activities; and strengthen the National Drug Education Program (NDEP) in schools.

“While DepEd is responsible for ensuring access, promoting equity, and improving the quality of basic education, we at the PNP on the other hand guarantee public safety and security. We are looking forward to the shared results that will come up in this endeavor and our continuous partnership for the welfare of the young ones,” De Leon said.

On the other hand, the partnership with IYF aims to provide programs, projects and activities that will shape the spiritual, intellectual, emotional growth and leadership skills of the Learners in DepEd Central Luzon; conduct skills development program though Mind Education for Educators; and capacitate Learners and Educators through various programs in line with the DepEd Core Values: Maka-Diyos, Makatao, Makakalikasan at Makabansa.

“We bring them to the world of mindset and we teach them how to have constructive mindset. With internet, gaming, people’s thinking and brain power deteriorate and they have no power of thinking reasonably. So we thought of a way on how to change the mindset of people through our program,” Nam shared.

These programs and activities that will be implemented by DepEd Central Luzon together with the PRO Central Luzon and IYFP will be spearheaded by the Youth Formation Unit under the DepEd Central Luzon Education Support Services Division. (PR)
