THE LAND BANK of the Philippines has officially inaugurated its first-ever mobile branch in the country at the Heroes Hall, City of San Fernando on July 21, 2021.
“We are very proud to inaugurate today the very first LANDBANK mobile branch in the country, right here, especially first in the City of San Fernando,” said Julio D. Climaco Jr., Landbank Branch Banking Sector executive vice president.
Climaco underscored the leadership and support of City of San Fernando Mayor Edwin Santiago in realizing their latest innovation in banking.
The mobile facility will function as a pop-up branch in various areas across the country to reach more Filipinos in underserved communities.
“Financial services in the event of calamities and similar situations, this is the main reason why we are launching our mobile branch. On the go to serve where we are needed the most. This will be very useful lalo na pag may mga calamities tulad ng bagyo, earthquakes and other events,” Climaco said.
For his part, Mayor Santiago stressed the importance of the Landbank mobile branch in the distribution of cash grants and social ameliorations under the local government unit's (LGU) social services and programs.
“This Landbank mobile branch will establish efficient, safe, and secured disbursement of cash assistance especially to our most vulnerable groups, prioritizing the seniors, persons with disabilities, and local Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4P’s beneficiaries,” Santiago said.
After the inauguration, Landbank, in coordination with the City Social Welfare and Development Office, immediately started the distribution of cash cards to the first batch of senior citizens-beneficiaries of the LGU cash grants.
Through the Landbank mobile branch, they can now have easy access to financial services such as account opening and maintenance, deposit, withdrawal, encashment, debit or credit memo, online collection payment, enrollment in e-banking facilities, and ATM services.
Landbank further reaffirmed its commitment to the city’s economic recovery agenda.
“Since 1994, we’ve been working closely with the city government for various development projects in San Fernando including the construction and improvement of school buildings and public markets. We are looking forward to more fruitful and productive collaborations with you towards your journey of making San Fernando a livable, ecologically-balanced and economically-viable model city,” Climaco said.
Joining Santiago and Climaco were some key officials of LANDBANK; Vice Mayor Jimmy T. Lazatin; City Councilor Cristina Lagman; Aileen Villanueva, City Social Welfare and Development Officer; Maria Giselle Rivera, City Accountant; Mary Ann P.
