Cebuana skateboarding star Margielyn Didal finished in seventh place in the finals of the Tokyo Olympics’ skateboarding women's street event held at the Ariake Urban Sports Park on Monday.

Battling what appeared to be an injured ankle, the pride of Lahug in Cebu City finished with a total score of 7.52 after the run phase and her second trick. Two 13-year old youngsters took center stage as Momiji Nishiya of Japan with a score of 15.26 and Rayssa Leal from Brazil, who had 14.64, won the gold and the silver medal, respectively. 16-year old Japanese Funa Nakayama, who had 14.49, grabbed the bronze medal.

Didal booked her ticket to the finals after a seventh place finish in the eliminations.

In the finals, she ended her first run with a 2.33 and then, got a 2.22 in the second. In the tricks section, she only managed to land one—her second trick—and recorded a 2.97 for a total score of 7.52. (JNP)
