FIVE persons, including a woman, were arrested in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga City and nearby Zamboanga Sibugay province, the police reported Monday, July 26, 2021.
Police Major Shellamie Chang, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Hayana Jahad, 51, housewife; Omar Atawi, 25, seaweed farmer; Joey Tupaz, 31, laborer; Marvin Kisahi, 35, factory worker; and Ferdinand Mangapit, 27, tricycle driver.
Chang said that Jahad and Atawi were nabbed in a buy-bust operation around 10 a.m. Sunday, July 25, on Omar Drive in Arena Blanco village, Zamboanga City.
Seized from the two were 10.4 grams of shabu worth P70,720, a coin purse, and P500 marked money.
Chang said Tupas was arrested in possession of P6,120 worth of shabu, a coin purse, and P200 marked money in a buy-bust operation around 3:40 p.m. Sunday, July 25, in Talon-Talon village, Zamboanga City.
Recovered from Kisahi were P4,500 worth of shabu and P200 marked money when arrested in an anti-drug operation around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, July 25, in Purok 10, Sitio Kapuk, Calarian village, Zamboanga City.
Mangapit yielded P2,652 worth of shabu and P500 marked money when arrested in a buy-bust operation around 1:50 p.m. Sunday, July 25, in Purok 7, Coloran village, Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay province.
Chang said the suspects were detained while appropriate charges will be filed against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
