91 Pampanga barangays flooded

SOME 91 barangays in Pampanga have been flooded due to the continuous rains brought by the southwest monsoon as exacerbated by high tide and floodwater draining into low-lying areas of the province.

Reports from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) said 25 barangays of Masantol were in floodwater due to the volume of water coming from upstream areas.

Some 18 barangays of Macabebe were also flooded, reaching as high as three to four feet in certain areas like Barangay Castuli and Santo Niño.

Eighteen barangays of Lubao, including coastal barangays, have been flooded. Apalit town also reported flooding in its five barangays while Guagua town reported eight barangays flooded. The PDRRMC report also showed flooding in two Bacolor villages, seven barangays in Minalin, and another seven barangays in Santo Tomas town.

San Simon town also reported flooding in Barangays Dela Paz and San Agustin.

The PDRRMC said some 25,528 families or 109,772 individuals have been affected by the flooding situation. Some 342 families are currently in 27 evacuation centers in nine local government units in Pampanga, according to a report from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.
