LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) here has recorded no casualty and less damage to agriculture even with the monsoon rains enhanced by Typhoon Fabian as of Monday.

In an interview, PDRRMO emergency operations center manager Shallom Balolong said portions in some 40 barangays in the province were flooded ranging from half to four feet deep flood water level.

Balolong said the flooding in portions of the 18 barangays in Dagupan City was due to high tide.

Flooding was also reported in portions of two barangays in Sta. Barbara town, three in San Fabian town, seven in this town, eight in Calasiao town, and two barangays in Mangatarem town.

“Most of these areas are on river banks or near unfinished dikes,” he said.

Balolong added there were no reported casualty, while some agricultural lands in Binalonan and Pozorrubio towns and Urdaneta City have incurred damage to the crops but in small amounts.

He said there were some evacuees on July 23 and 24 as a preemptive measure at the height of the torrential rains experienced in the province but the families have already returned to their homes,

Meanwhile, the province remained under blue alert status as monsoon rains still prevail in most areas.

“Although augmentation personnel are now no longer deployed but are on standby,” Balolong said.

As of 9 a.m. Monday, Marusay River in Calasiao town was at 8.9 feet above critical level while the water level at the Sinocalan River is continuously decreasing to 6.6 feet from 7.5 feet on Saturday.

Balolong urged the public to always be prepared as intermittent rains are expected to pour over the week according to the state weather bureau. (PNA)
