Flooding leaves P23-M rice damage in Pampanga

THE recent monsoon rains have damaged P23,751,027 worth of rice crops in two Pampanga towns, according to reports from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA).

The OPA reports showed that the damage were from Mexico and Candaba towns.

Candaba town alone sustained P21,679,177 damage to its rice crops, while Mexico registered P2,071,850 worth of damage.

Macabebe town also reported P8,007,660 worth of damage to its fisheries sector.

The damage reports had been the result of the recent flooding incidents in the province due to the recent rains brought by the southwest monsoon.

As of Tuesday, July 27, 89 barangays in 10 local government units in Pampanga are currently flooded.

Towns with the greatest number of flooded barangays include Masantol, Macabebe, Lubao, Apalit and Guagua.

Some 225,585 individuals, in flood hit towns, have been affected.
