1,000 Covid-19 vaccines rolled out in Arayat town

HEAVY rains and an earthquake did not stop the local government of Arayat, Pampanga from holding its biggest Covid-19 vaccine rollout over the weekend.

Executive Assistant to the Governor and first lady Madeth Alejandrino, who also spearheaded the vaccination rollout, said a total of 1,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson Janssen were administered to senior citizens and essential workers on Saturday morning, July 24.

"This is the highest number of jabs administered in a single day in our town. The vaccines are part of the total 4,000 doses downloaded by Governor Dennis Pineda to our municipality," she said.

She added that the remaining 3,000 doses of single-shot vaccines will also be rolled out in the coming days at their mega-vaccination site located inside the Exact Colleges in Barangay Suclayin, Arayat.

Alejandrino, meanwhile, said that 12,000 individuals in town were already vaccinated as of July 24.

The number is one of the biggest in terms of vaccine rollout in the province of Pampanga, she added.

"We are very happy to share that more and more residents here wanted to get vaccinated. This is far from the perspective they have when the vaccines were first introduced," she said.

She added that vaccination will be continuous as long as supply from the national and provincial government is available.

She also assured that more doses will come in town soon as the local government also purchased its own vaccines.

"Mayor Bon Alejandrino allocated some P12 million for vaccine procurement and through the help of our governor, we can be assured that there will be enough supply until we reached at least the target of herd immunity," she said.
