Pangan: Ferocious Delta

THIS has no reference to the incumbent Pampanga Governor Dennis "Delta" G. Pineda, rather it points to the new variant, a serious form of mutation of the coronavirus.

From health reports, it was said to become deadly as far as transmission is concerned and the current vaccines might not be totally effective in combating it.

And so we are faced with this serious dilemma and President Duterte is even contemplating on imposing again stricter lockdowns to contain the ferocious Delta at the expense, expectedly, of the growth of our economy.

The health experts are understandably baffled and has caused confusion in issuing guidelines including allowing children to go out of their residences to enjoy and refresh in parks and other places allowable. Sus, the flip-flop in the procedures definitely dismayed our young sector which had been closeted for some time now. The ruthless variant has caused the flip-flopping. Say, how many more variants are to come and cause us more misery, if not despair? Ahh...

The vaccines of different brands have arrived and yet local government units complain about the scarcity of supplies. Residents who were scheduled for vaccination often receive advice regarding postponement of their scheduled vaccination. If this is often the case, when will the targeted herd immunity be achieved?

We are all awaiting, if not despairing, for an end to this pandemic but with the occurrence of mutations on COVID, we seem to see no end yet to this health crisis.

Some of us are more creative, innovative but others think otherwise. A scam here, an irregularity there, even thinking of unauthorized selling of vaccines. Presently, vaccines are a source of illicit money through illegal transactions. Sus.

We've heard of transactions involving unauthorized and therefore illegal selling of vaccines and slots. What else is new? Give it to Pinoys to come up with novel and innovative ideas to sell anything, everything. Ha ha.

Are the vaccines really the cure for all COVID 19 cases? Or are we just being taken for a ride? Hmmm...
