ZCMC inaugurates P8-M dormitory

THE government-owned Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) has inaugurated Wednesday, July 28, 2021, an P8 million 70-bed dormitory for its personnel while on duty.

Dr. Afdal Kunting, ZCMC chief of hospitals, said the dormitory is located on the third floor of the Cancer Care Building in the east side of the ZCMC compound.

Kunting said the dormitory will serve as temporary shelter for healthcare workers of ZCMC, especially those who go on perpetual duties.

“It is the priority of ZCMC to ensure that its healthcare workers are well taken care of, especially during their tour of duties,” he said.

Each room is equipped with a split-type air conditioner, four to six bunk beds, a television and a closet.

The rooms for male and female occupants, as well as comfort rooms and shower rooms are separate.

Sheikh Hayder Buddin, Fr. Jovel Palermo and Pastor Arturo Veladiez officiated the blessing of the 70-bed dormitory and was witnessed by the ZCMC staffs.

Kunting said the ZCMC will continue to provide a high standard of care for patients through employees' satisfaction.

The ZCMC is a busy hospital since it is the referral medical facility in zamboanga Peninsula to include the provinces of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, which are part of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. (SunStar Zamboanga)
