ABOUT 2,000 Bacolodnons already availed themselves of the cash-for-work program, or the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Worker (Tupad), of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

Bacolod City Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya said Thursday, July 29, that from January to June 2021, about 2,000 beneficiaries from various barangays in Bacolod have availed themselves of the cash-for-work program.

He said this is an ongoing program of the national government and for the month of July to September 2021, they suggested to DOLE to accommodate 3,000 recipients in different barangays in the city.

The cash-for-work program is a short-term intervention to provide temporary employment to distressed/displaced individuals by participating in or undertaking preparedness, mitigation, relief, rehabilitation, or risk reduction projects and activities in their communities or evacuation centers.

Gasataya said the barangays were tasked to identify their beneficiaries who will work on their barangays doing repair works and cleaning, among others.

"As long as they already liquidated their previous funds from Dole, we will request for the funds and it will be downloaded directly to the barangays for the implementation of the program," he said.

The cash-for-work beneficiary will receive P5,000 and up for 15 days of work within their barangays.
