THE TNT Tropang Giga had a triumphant return to action as they handed the Rain or Shine E-Painters their second loss in a row, 79-69, in the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup Friday, July 30, at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
TNT was placed under health and safety protocols after four of their players were suspected of having the Covid-19 virus. After a week-long break, the Tropang Giga hit the ground running and frustrated the E-Painters to capture their second win of the season.
Cebuano Roger Pogoy and Troy Rosario led TNT with 13 points each, with the latter also hauling down 14 rebounds. Glenn Khobuntin put up 10 markers and five boards while Jayson Castro almost had a double-double with nine points and seven assists.
Mikey Williams, the Tropang Giga’s fourth overall pick, also made his debut and finished with seven points, two boards and three assists in 27 minutes of action.
Javee Mocon paced Rain or Shine with 22 points but the team lost its second game in a row after starting the season with three straight victories. (JNP)
