Water form spearheads info drive on NRW reduction

THE Legal Department of Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) has embarked on a series of public information campaigns in this city’s four villages on its Non-Revenue Water (NRW) reduction program in the downtown area.

Lawyer Lovell Abad, ZCWD Legal Department head, disclosed Friday, July 30, that the campaign is to raise awareness on the district’s plan to rehabilitate and refit the city’s downtown area of its ageing water meters.

Abad disclosed the high incidence of Non-Revenue Water in the downtown area, prompting the district to embark on the program in the hope of bringing down water losses and improve revenue collection.

Officials in the four downtown barangays were provided with flyers and material handouts for distribution to consumers in the area as public gatherings remained restricted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Also included are pertinent information on illegal connections, the proper installation and use of booster pumps and the district’s ongoing pipeline replacement program.

A Legal Department team headed by legal Assistant Yusop Masdal is conducting the information drive in the four zones of the city.

This is augmented by public service information dissemination by way of radio announcements by its Communications, Research and External Affairs Services personnel.

Abad is enlisting the support of the general public to help in the campaign to lower non-revenue water by reporting leakages and illegal connections in their areas by calling the ZCWD Legal Department through telephone numbers 062-991-1556 (local 8104) or come and visit the Customer Care Division (Complaint Section) at the ground floor of the ZCWD Main Office along Pilar Street, this city.
