Over 8,000 infections for 2nd day

THE Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday, July 31, 2021, reported over 8,000 new cases for the second straight day and more than 100 deaths for the third day in a row.

In its case bulletin, the DOH listed 8,147 new infections, 167 additional deaths and 9,117 new recoveries.

The new cases brought the total case count to 1,588,965. Two laboratories were not operational and one was unable to submit its testing output to the Covid-19 Document Repository System on July 29.

The additional deaths raised the death toll to 27,889. The case fatality rate increased to 1.76 percent.

There are now a total 1,500,189 Covid-19 survivors.

There remain 60,887 active cases in the country, of which 93.8 percent were mild, 2.1 percent were severe, 1.5 percent were moderate, 1.3 percent were critical and 1.3 percent were asymptomatic as of July 29. (HDT / SunStar Philippines)
