Crop damage in Pampanga rises to P154M

MONSOON floods in different towns of Pampanga have pushed the cost of damages to the agriculture sector to reach a total of 154,359,056, according to the latest reports from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA).

The OPA report showed that most of the damage had been incurred by the palay sector with total damage of P69,118,935.57. Apalit town alone reported some P34,418,807.20 worth of damage to its palay sector, the highest in Pampanga.

Candaba town reported some P21,679,177.60 worth of damage along with San Luis with P7,593,185.60 and Minalin with 31,500. There is also considerable damage to the palay sector of Mexico town, which recorded some P5,289,600 worth of damage. Magalang town has the lowest recorded damage with P106,665.17.

Damage to the fisheries sector has also reached P85,089,496. Minalin town's fisheries sector registered some P35,895,950 worth of damage along with Masantol with P25,986,620 and Macabebe with P8,007,660. Sasmuan town alone incurred some P15,199,266 worth of damage.

Minalin town also reported some P100,000 worth of damage to its high-value crops. Some P50,625 worth of corn crops were also destroyed in Magalang town.
