Additional Covid-19 vaccines arrive in Eastern Visayas

EASTERN Visayas received on Sunday, August 1, 2021, an additional 102,400 doses of Sinovac vaccines and 195 vials or 1,170 doses of Pfizer vaccines as government’s inoculation efforts against coronavirus disease (Covid-19) continued in the region.

“The government’s intensified vaccination drive is continually in action as the vaccine inoculation for priority Groups A1-A3 is still ongoing, both for their first and second doses, respectively,” the regional health department said.

“The public is reminded to coordinate with their local government units for vaccine registration and get vaccinated, following the government’s Prioritization Framework, in order to get maximum protection against the severe form of Covid-19,” it added.

All six provinces in the region, including the cities of Tacloban Ormoc, will be allocated with the Sinovac vaccines.

The Pfizer vaccines will be allocated to the towns Dulag and Palo, Leyte for the pilot implementation of the Pfizer vaccination in Leyte province.

As of Sunday, Eastern Visayas has received a total of 829,920 doses of Covid-19 vaccines.

Some 352 sites were also conducting Covid-19 vaccination in Eastern Visayas.

The regional health department said 99.88 percent of the available doses have been distributed, equating to 725,489 out of 726,350 doses received, as of July 29.

A total of 508,551 doses have been administered.

“329,659 or 75.88 percent of the 434,424 allocated first doses have already been administered. While 61.28 percent of the second doses have already been administered, equating to 178,892 administered doses,” it said.

The target population for A1 or the Frontline Health Workers have met the 100 percent coverage rate, 23.84 percent for A2 or Senior Citizens, 28.49 percent for A3 or Adults with Comorbidities, and 5.2 percent for A4 or the Economic Frontliners, the regional health department reported.

As of Sunday, the region’s total number of Covid-19 cases is at 36,210, with total recoveries at 34,363 (94.90 percent), total deaths at 421 (1.16 percent), and total active cases at 1,426 (3.94 percent). (SunStar Philippines)
