DEPARTMENT of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año on Monday, August 2, 2021, urged local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila to offer 24/7 vaccinations against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“As soon as possible, kailangan talaga natin 'yan. Ito ay isa sa pinakamagandang paraan para mapabagal at ma-address ang transmission,” he said.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. said the national government will allot an additional 2.5 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to the NCR.

It can be increased to 4.0 million, as requested earlier by the Metro Manila mayors to boost their inoculations, depending on the supply of the vaccines.

Roque said the country has administered 20,863,544 doses as of August 1.

Of the total, 9,115,963 have been fully vaccinated. First dose inoculations increased to 11,747,581. (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo / SunStar Philippines)
