A CHINESE national was killed and four others were arrested in three separate operations in Quezon City, Valenzuela City and Bulacan on Sunday, August 1, 2021, while over P1.482 billion worth of illegal drugs were recovered.

Those arrested were Willie Lu Tan, 42; Anton Wong, 28 and Chen Zhin, 79. Cases for violation of Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs) and Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed in court against them.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Guillermo Eleazar said they were arrested during a drug bust at around 11:30 a.m. along Magsaysay Street in Barangay San Bartolome, Novaliches, Quezon City.

Recovered from the suspects were 127 kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) with an estimated street value of P863.6 million.

Hours later, the same operating units from the PNP and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)conducted a follow-up operation, in support of Valenzuela City Police Station, in front of a bank along Paso de Blas, General Luis St., Valenzuela City.

This resulted in the seizure of 16 kilograms of suspected shabu worth P108.8 million.

At around 5:40 p.m., they conducted an entrapment operation in Barangay Santol, Balagtas, Bulacan, which resulted in the killing of Wu Zishen, 50.

Seized during the said operation were P510 million worth of shabu weighing 75 kilograms.

Eleazar said the suspects were responsible for the proliferation of illegal drugs in Metro Manila and neighboring provinces.

“This is a huge blow against the illegal drug trade dahil malaki ang posibilidad na ang sindikatong ito ang isa sa mga main suppliers ng iligal na droga dito sa Kamaynilaan at mga karatig probinsiya,” he said. (SunStar Philippines)
