Miriam Quiambao gives birth to miracle baby

FORMER Miss Universe first runner-up Miriam Quiambao has given birth to her second child with Ardy Roberto. Miriam has become pregnant during Covid year last year and credits their change to healthier habits as the reason why. During Covid, they started juicing fresh juices and making them into smoothies. She has had failed IVF procedure before their son Elijah was born. Elijah was also born out of natural pregnancy at 43 years old.

This time, their miracle baby Ezekiel Isaiah was born at 37 weeks weighing 7 pounds. Miriam barely had four hours of sleep when she had to give birth to Ezekiel via caesarian section. Asian Hospital in Alabang allowed her husband Ardy to be in the operating room to be with her, while her OB gynecologist, Dr. Becky Singson, commanded the child birth. New baby was conceived at 45 years old, which is considered a miracle. That’s because a woman is born with a fixed number of eggs in her ovaries, and as she ages, the number of eggs starts to decrease. Those remaining eggs are more likely to have chromosomal abnormalities, making a healthy conception trickier and the chance of a miscarriage more likely. Older women are also more likely to have gynecological issues that affect fertility. By age 40, it drops to around 5 percent or less per cycle (around 1 in 10 women per cycle). At 45, there’s only a slim chance of conceiving naturally, without fertility treatments or help.

According to Web MD, "By age 40, an average healthy woman has only a five percent chance of getting pregnant per cycle. At the same time, the likelihood of miscarriage climbs with your age. A typical 40-year-old has about a 40 percent chance of losing the pregnancy. That compares to less than 15 percent for someone in their 20s. By the time you’re over 45, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists says getting pregnant naturally is ‘unlikely for most women.’”

Can you imagine that Ardy and Miriam beat the odds of having a baby conceived naturally? One at the age of 43 and another one at age 45?

So far, baby Ezekiel has been a dream baby for Miriam and Ardy -- he only cries when he is hungry or has a wet diaper. He likes warm baths that makes him sleep better at night.

The mother is doing well the last time I checked in with her. She finds the time to nap during the day, can already walk around for 15 minutes and seems to be healing well. She says, "Okay naman. No more pain sa suture. Getting used to the new baby but puyat pa rin." I have no doubt that Ardy and Miriam will continue to enjoy parenthood with Josh, Elijah and Ezekiel.
