MANILA City Mayor Francisco Domagoso on Friday, August 6, 2021, said unidentified individuals tried but failed to hack the City’s Covid-19 vaccination platform 133 times the night before thousands of people who want to get inoculated flocked to various sites.

Domagoso wondered if the recent events were orchestrated.

He cited the hacking of their vaccination website, the sudden surge of people at the city’s vaccination sites and the issuance of a show cause order against him by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) over the failure of the Manila government to implement drug war programs in 2018, a year before he assumed the post.

“Wala naman akong sinabi na (politically motivated). May tinitingnan ako, parang sinasadya,” he said.

“‘Di ko alam kung coincidence lang ‘din (pero) pag may lumalabas na survey, a few days after may nangyayari sa Maynila,” he added.

Domagoso was referring to the Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey on presidential bets, which showed that he ranked second, next to presidential daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

The series of events particularly the chaos at the vaccination sites prompted Domagoso to suspend his oathtaking with Aksyon Demokratiko party scheduled for Thursday afternoon, August 5.

From the usual 1,000 to 2,000 vaccinees, the number of people seeking vaccination swelled to 7,000 to 10,000 in SM San Lazaro, more than 5,000 in SM Manila, 3,000 at the Lucky Chinatown and 4,000 in Robinsons Manila. Photos and videos of the chaotic events went viral.

Domagoso said the vaccinees, who are not residents of Metro Manila, came in groups on board vans and jeepneys.

He said this happened after the people allegedly received reports that unvaccinated individuals will not receive cash aid and they will not be allowed to go outside their homes.

Domagoso slammed these “agitators” sent by unknown individuals with political motives.

The rumors circulated after President Rodrigo Duterte told those who don’t want to get vaccinated to just stay home because he will ask the police to escort them to their homes if they go out. (SunStar Philippines)
