Cagayan de Oro ECQ status extended until August 15

THE Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases has extended the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) status of Cagayan de Oro for another week until August 15.

Mayor Oscar Moreno understood the IATF's decision, saying it had no choice but to extend the ECQ status of the city because of its healthcare utilization rate.

According to the data from Fassster Philippines, as of August 4, Cagayan de Oro's average healthcare utilization rate was at 75.82 percent.

"Of course, contributory diha sa atong healthcare utilization rate figure nga ang atong hospitals also admit patients from outside Cagayan de Oro," Moreno said.

He added that they cannot refuse the admission of coronavirus-positive people who are from areas outside Cagayan de Oro, especially those who are severe or critical cases.

"Mao na nga kinahanglan magtinabangay lang gyud ta kay dili nato sila mabalibaran kay simbako manakod naman pud sila kung naa ra sila sa ilang balay or worse ang ilang kinabuhi will be at serious risk," Moreno said.

The city is also among the areas under Alert Level 4, together with Bukidnon and Camiguin in Northern Mindanao.

Areas under Alert Level 4 are those with moderate to critical risk classification and more than 70 percent healthcare utilization rate regardless of the presence of the highly contagious Delta variant.
