SOME 2,261 beneficiaries from the towns of Tanauan and Burauen in Leyte have received livelihood amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.
“We don’t know when this pandemic will end, but I can assure you that our province can recover especially that the government through DOLE (Department of Labor and Employment) is here to help us,” said Leyte Governor Leopoldo Dominico Petilla during the distribution of grants Thursday, August 5, 2021.
Mayor Pelagio Tecson of Tanauan and Mayor Juanito Renomeron of Burauen thanked DOLE for the release P11,080,372 worth of livelihood and Tupad (Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers) grants in the two towns.
DOLE-Eastern Visayas said a total of P7,260,900 worth of Tupad and livelihood grants were received by 1,801 underemployed and disadvantaged workers in Tanauan, while P3,179,472 were received by 460 informal sector workers from Burauen.
Some 25 displaced and returning overseas Filipino workers also received the sum of P640,000 livelihood and financial assistance under Balik Pinas Balik Hanapbuhay and Tabang OFW programs of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
