Santo Tomas town under state of calamity

THE Municipal Government of Santo Tomas unanimously approved Resolution No. 206-2021, placing the town under a state of calamity due to the incessant rains brought by the southwest monsoon that had flooded several barangays.

The resolution, which was signed by Mayor Gloria Ronquillo, said the Municipal Risk Reduction and Management Council reported that some 4,152 families in the town had been affected by the flooding for almost three weeks.

Floodwater had also damaged P872,301 worth of agricultural products in the town along with P1, 293, 301 worth of damage to its fisheries sector.

As of press time, all of the seven barangays of the town are still flooded with some areas in two to three feet of floodwater.
