CEBU City Councilor Eduardo Rama Jr., who was assigned to manage the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) as a Mega Stay-in Center, said the new isolation facility may be used starting next week, depending on the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases recorded in the city.

"Hopefully, next week, and hopefully, di gyud magamit (this will not be used)," said Rama.

The CCSC is only being prepared in case the Covid-19 cases in the city continue to increase.

Rama said the covered court that was used as a badminton area before, where the beds were placed, can accommodate up to 150 Covid-19 patients.

Other areas of the CCSC, the rooms used for belly dancing and gymnastics, can accommodate up to 100 patients.

Rama said such was only the initial capacity, adding that more beds can be added to the facility if the need arises.

He said the City has allocated P5 million for all the materials to be used in the facility like personal protective equipment (PPE) including face masks, PPE suits for frontliners, and sanitary alcohol.

The foams and beds used in the new isolation facility were once used at the New Normal Oasis for Adaptation and a Home (Noah) Complex before, he said. (JJL)
