TWENTY persons with disabilities (PWDs) have completed on Friday, August 6, 2021, a three-day Swedish Massage Training, a joint undertaking of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) and the Army’s 53rd Infantry Battalion (IB).
The training was conducted at Camp Major David Sabido, the home of the 53IB in Poblacion village, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.
The training focused and explained how Swedish massage relieves stress, tension, depression, and anxiety; how it increases flexibility and decreases dependence on medicine; and how it releases endorphin, which is a natural painkiller of the body.
The conduct of the three-day training was facilitated by Rosalie Vilvestre of the Tesda-Zamboanga Peninsula office.
Mary Jane Amarado, Tesda-Zamboanga Peninsula administrative officer and acting supervising specialist, said the agency will continue its mandate as chair of the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood, and Employment Cluster of the Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.
“Tesda will continue training and capacitating individuals to significantly address poverty affectation among marginalized communities and basic sectors,” Amarado said.
Lieutenant Colonel Jo-ar Herrera, 53IB commander, has thanked the Tesda-Zamboanga Peninsula for the conduct of the Swedish Massage Training.
“We are grateful for the close partnership and convergence with Tesda. Not only do we give premium on the PWDs' skills development but also on their morale and welfare,” Herrera said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
