THIRD District Representative Francisco “Kiko” Benitez recently turned over two brand-new ambulances to Murcia, represented by Mayor Victor Gerardo M. Rojas, in the presence of Vice-Mayor Johnny Reosura, Sangguniang Bayan Members, Punong Barangays and other municipal officials.

“We thank the Department of Health for the arrival of these ambulances for Murcia. The ambulances came at the right time because we need the services of these vehicles in this time of pandemic when our consciousness on our health needs is heightened. On behalf of Murcia and the entire Third District, we thank the DOH (Department of Health) for working continuously during this time of crisis and difficulty,” Benitez said.

The ambulances were procured by the DOH, facilitated by the office of Benitez. The DOH Regional Office-Western Visayas was represented by Joelyn Demerin in the turnover ceremony. Aside from the two units for Murcia, the DOH and Benitez also delivered two ambulances to EB Magalona and another ambulance to Victorias City.

“In this pandemic, the demand on our health system is extreme. What we need to do is to make sure that our health system’s capacity is strengthened to ensure that we can respond as quickly as possible to the health needs of our population,” Benitez added.

Rojas received the ambulances on behalf of Murcia. After the vehicles were blessed by Murcia parish priest Fr. Regner Dequeňa, Mayor Rojas turned over the vehicles to the Murcia Rural Health Unit headed by Dr. Raymund Antonio Maguad.

“This is another blessing for all of us in Murcia. I thank Cong. Kiko and Cong. Albee for these ambulances. As Cong. Kiko said, the arrival of these ambulances is very timely. In the middle of the pandemic, we really need these vehicles, because we lack ambulances since most of our ambulances are already old,” Rojas said.

“These will be a big help to Murciahanons, particularly to transport patients who need to be transferred to nearby hospitals. Again, thank you very, Cong. Kiko and Cong. Albee, for facilitating these ambulances for Murcia,” the mayor added. (PR)
