THE Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Bacolod City will conduct an assessment on the performance of the contact tracers in the city to renew their services.

This was stressed by Ma. Joy Maredith Madayag, director DILG-Bacolod, after the contract of services the city’s contact tracers had ended on August 8.

Madayag said they earlier hired about 94 contact tracers and all of them were assigned to the City Government of Bacolod.

The contact tracers were hired to help track those who might have been infected with coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in various areas of Bacolod City.

They were tasked to conduct interviews, profiling, and performing health risk assessments of Covid-19 positive cases, including close contacts.

The DILG-Central Office earlier announced that they will renew the contract of services of about 15, 000 contact tracers in the country.

Madayag said they cannot yet tell the total number of contact tracers that will be renewed in Bacolod to help the city’s campaign against Covid-19.

Meanwhile, the Task Force Disiplina intensified its operation in various areas in Bacolod City to penalize the health protocol violators.

Wilfredo Geolingo, action officer of the task force, said as of June, more than 200 health protocol violators were arrested in various areas for not wearing face masks, face shields and not observing the social distancing.

They were given citation tickets and they were fined P200.

Geolingo urged all the Bacolodnons to follow the health protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19 since Bacolod City is still under general community quarantine with heightened restriction.
