THE Bago City Hall is compliant with the public health and safety standards set by the national government and uses the StaySafe.ph application for its contact tracing.

This was validated by the Safety Seal award given by the inspection and certification team led by City Local Government Operations Officer IV Mia Asuncion Gatilogo of the Department of the Interior Local Government (DILG) with Bago City Police Station Chief Lieutenant Colonel John Joel Batusbatusan and City Fire Marshal Inspector Jun Michael Manuel as members.

Mayor Nicholas Yulo, Vice Mayor Ramon Torres, City Human Resource Management Officer and City Administrator- Designate Tricia Matti and General Services Office head Engineer Leo Pahilanga received the award in rites held at the city hall lobby Monday, August 9.

The Safety Seal Certification Program is a voluntary certification scheme that seeks to increase consumer confidence amid the prevailing health crisis.

It aimed to assure the public of the compliance of establishments with minimum public health standards set by the government.

It also encouraged the adoption of the Staysafe.ph app to strengthen the contact tracing initiative to effectively contain the spread of Covid-19 and reopen the economy.

It is a program of the Department of Trade and Industry together with the Department of Health, DILG, Department of Tourism and Department of Labor and Employment under the Joint Memorandum Circular No. 21 – 01.

Under the circular, all government buildings and commercial establishments must be certified and inspected to get a safety seal.

It is renewable every six months to assure continuous compliance except for tourism enterprises which they are required to renew annually.

For government entities, the inspection and certification team is composed of the DILG, Philippine National Police and Bureau of Fire Protection.

Meanwhile, for business establishments, the team is led by the Business Permit and Licensing Office with City Health Office, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Philippine National Police, and Information Office and other offices as deemed necessary by the local chief executive as members.

On the same day, the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office headed by Dr. Merijene Ortizo and the Bago City Fire Station were also awarded with their Safety Seals. (PR)
