DILG extends contract of contact tracers

THE Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Bacolod City has allowed the contact tracers to continue their services in the city.

This was stressed by City Administrator Em Ang, executive director of Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF), on Tuesday, August 10, after Ma. Joy Maredith Madayag, director DILG-Bacolod, informed the EOC that the contact tracers' contract will be extended.

Ang said Dr. Chris Sorongon, deputy for medical data and analysis of EOC, was already informed by Madayag to continue the services of the contact tracers in Bacolod City because their contract will also be extended.

She said a total of 90 contact tracers, which were hired by the DILG, were assigned at the Bacolod Government Center.

The contract of services of the city’s contact tracers had ended on August 8.

DILG-Bacolod earlier hired more than 90 individuals who were deployed as contact tracers in Bacolod City.

The contact tracers were hired to help track those who might have been infected with coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in various areas of Bacolod City.

They were tasked to conduct interviews, profiling, and performing health risk assessments of Covid-19 positive cases including close contacts.

Madayag earlier said that they will assess the performance of the contact tracers to renew their services.

She also announced that they will renew the contract of services of about 15,000 contact tracers in the country.
