Robbery suspect stabbed dead

A ROBBERY suspect was stabbed to death after he allegedly ransacked a house on Taal-Ilang-Ilang Street, Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City Tuesday morning, August 10.

Police identified the fatality as Ernesto Vallejo, 35, of Barangay Villamonte.

Police Major Jun Ray Batadlan, chief of Police Station 4, said around 4:20 a.m., Vallejo ransacked the house of Quentin Limbaga, 65.

He said Limbaga was awakened by the sound of their alarm system and when he checked, he saw the suspect inside their house searching on their drawer.

He added that Vallejo noticed him and he was hit by a steel pipe. Limbaga tried to close the door of his room and shouted for help.

Limbaga's son, Czedrian, 19, who was sleeping in the same room, tried to grab the steel pipe from Vallejo, but the suspect also hit him on his head and ran outside the room.

Limbaga and his son tried to stop him, but Vallejo took a knife and attacked Quentin on the right side of his upper body.

Czedrian called assistance from his brother Steven, 39, who was sleeping on the second floor, and when they returned, they saw their father still fighting with the suspect.

Steven grabbed Vallejo's wrist, but the suspect tried to stab him, and fortunately, Quentin managed to get his long bladed weapon and stabbed the suspect on his right lower armpit.

Vallejo sustained serious injury and died on the spot. Quentin and Czedrian also sustained injuries and were brought to Riverside Medical Center.

Police recovered from the scene of the crime a bladed weapon or Katana, kitchen knife, and three steel pipes.

Batadlan said Vallejo has a criminal record in Police Station 4. In 2019, he was also arrested for illegal gaming.

He said they are still conducting further investigation to determine if Vallejo has a companion to rob the victims' house.

The police are also waiting for the decision of Vallejos's family if they are willing to file charges.
