ILOILO City has put in place a total of 1,500 isolation beds in both government and private quarantine facilities in case of Covid-19 surge.

“We have to prepare for possible increase in infections which may be caused by the more contagious Delta variant. Oxygen tanks are also available. We have doctors and nurses to take care of positive patients. These will cater to mild and moderate cases to give the already overwhelmed hospitals a breathing room,” Mayor Jerry Treñas said.

Quarantine Facility Manager Gabriel Umadhay said they would settle everything within the week, as they would need to set up a hundred more beds.

Per inventory, there are a total of 1,406 beds, including 864 beds in city-run quarantine facilities and 542 beds in various partner hotels.

There are 258 people in both public and private quarantine facilities; 33 are returning residents, Authorized Persons Outside Residence (Apor), overseas Filipino workers, and close contacts; while 225 are confirmed Covid-19 cases, as of August 10.

Meanwhile, 468 are on home quarantine. (PR)
