Steffi Rose Pearson Aberasturi, Ssssuper Ka!

Nganong duna man kay dugong langyaw ug nganong napunta man imong parents sa Cebu?

My great great grandfather was a Captain in Spain and fell in love with the beauty of Leyte and got married to an Escaño and decided to settle in Southern Leyte for good. As for my dad, he ended up in Cebu because they decided to study college here. While my mom’s grandfather was a Mining Engineer in Australia and bought a land in Mindanao and got married to a Filipina. For my dad’s love for the beach, we all moved in Liloan and currently living here.

So, how are you preparing for the Miss U PH?

Lately, I’ve been working out in Consolacion gym with the help of Coach Rane Repique. He’s been pushing me to my limits and mentally encouraging me to stay fit and healthy. Also, I’ve been training Pasarela walk and Q and A in Labangon with Karla Supersoft and online Q and A with my mentor in Manila. Labangon is quite far from my house in Liloan but I don’t mind for I’m taking it as a challenge to show how determined I am to win this prestigious competition. I’m under KF Cebu but as I go to Manila the KF Manila led by Rodin Flores will be behind me.

What is your edge among other candidates?

I believe that we are all equipped and well-prepared for this competition but I guess my edge from them is my authenticity! I didn’t and don't try to imitate others. I just try to be myself and that liberates me from all the things I want to achieve in life. I’ve been living with my advocacy as an online seller for so long before I realized that I want to join Miss Universe Philippines and that authenticity can’t be taken away from me.

What’s your advocacy?

I am an advocate of Encouraging Small Businesses and I empower them through inspiring, supporting and promoting. We have to adapt into this changing times and advance our entrepreneurial practices while promoting our local fashion, arts, and culture. It’s relatable to me since I’ve been an online seller ever since when I was in high school and that is something I want to teach to the youth and at the same time helping and supporting our small businesses adapt to this new normal.

How will this online voting work for the candidates and how can the Cebuano fans vote for you?

Since a lot of phenomenal women were screened for this competition, we have to undergo series of online challenges. From 100 candidates we have been narrowed down to Top 75 and then 50 based on the votes from the Miss Universe Philippines mobile app. For the Runway Challenge, you’ll be given a chance to vote once per day until Aug. 14, 11:59 p.m. Just look for my name and hit the star button. From the 50, 30 delegates will be announced on August 31 who will serve as the official candidates. The coronation night is on Sept. 25. I’m humbly asking all the Cebuanos to continually support me in this journey and fingers crossed, I will bring home the 5th Crown of Miss Universe.

What’s your view on the removal of the minimum height requirement for the candidates?

I don’t think there should be a standard in beauty pageants in the first place. But reality is that people themselves have set their own standards that unfortunately end up bashing and bullying other candidates. That is why we need to remind ourselves that beauty comes in different forms, shape and sizes. Only then we can allow these women to celebrate their femininity and advocacies. After all, we are here to inspire and empower others. And to do this, there are no beauty standards needed.

How would you rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 that you will bring home the crown?

I rate myself a 10! Not to sound boastful and bragging but for me to win and take this challenge I have to have this mindset of a winner. And having this positive mindset keeps me going. It’s not gonna be easy especially competing against empowered ladies from all over the Philippines but I just need to throw the caution to the wind and take the first step. I don’t need to see the whole staircase, all I just need is to take the first step and keep climbing until I reach the top. I believe with a winner mindset, it will really take me somewhere. I’m here to win it! For I strongly believe on the Law of Attraction.

How does it feel being dubbed as the `undefeated beauty queen’?

“Undefeated” is such a big word! I prefer the word “Blessed” I guess! And for me to achieve that, I have to undergo a lot of preparations, immeasurable hard work, strong dedications and a whole lot of prayers. The journey was like a rollercoaster ride, never easy yet exciting and fulfilling. And most importantly, have an unwavering faith to our dearest Creator for I believe with prayers, nothing is impossible. It’s also very overwhelming seeing many Filipinos rooting for me, especially the people of Cebu. No words can express how grateful I am for all the support they are showing me. I just have to do my best and take it “One STEFF at a time.”
