Waterfront Cebu opens city's 1st hotel vaccination site

IN SUPPORT of the Cebu City Government’s ongoing vaccination program, premier city hotel Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino officially opened the city’s seventh vaccination site and the only one in a hotel. Dubbed the “Waterfront Bakuna Center,” the new jab site welcomed its first batch of vaccinees during a soft launching ceremony and media walk-through on Aug. 10, 2021.

The intimate launching was attended by Cebu City Acting Mayor Mike Rama, Vaccination Operating Council and Cebu City Health officer Dr. Jeffrey Ibones, Cebu City Emergency Operations Center (EOC) deputy implementer Joel Garganera, Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino hotel manager Benhur Caballes, staff of the city health department and the Cebu City government and members of the media.

In his welcome message, Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino general manager Anders Hallden thanked the various local government units including the Cebu City government, the Emergency Operations Center, the Department of Health, the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Gatchalian family for making the corporate social responsibility project happen.

With the opening of the hotel as the newest vaccination site, Waterfront Cebu hopes that it will be able to contribute and ramp up the city’s vaccination program and inoculate as many Cebuanos as possible per day to help hasten the city’s ultimate goal of achieving “herd community” and ensure population protection here in Cebu. The hotel targets to administer 500 vaccines to start with and work up to as much as 1,500 vaccinees daily.

The newly opened Waterfront Bakuna Center is composed of seven steps, as required by the Cebu City Vaccination Operation Center:

Step 1: Verification

Step 2: Encoding

Step 3: Vital Signs

Step 4: Consultation

Step 5: Vaccination

Step 6: Encoding

Step 7: Monitoring

As a token of gratitude for taking part in the vaccination program, the hotel offered all vaccinees light snacks upon their exit.
