NEVER in his wildest dreams did vlogger Dodong Dave imagine being a singer. Known for his fun Bisaya videos on Facebook and Tik Tok, he considers himself primarily as an actor-writer. But the quarantine opened doors he didn't expect but gladly welcomed with open arms.
"Ginhawa," his debut was released recently and made it to Spotify's Fresh Finds playlist. Dodong admitted he was hesitant to record at first, but the song originally entitled "Kwarantin," struck him as it was during the quarantine when he met his fiancée.
Working with ace producer Carlisle Tabanera and songwriter RJ Ensalada gave him the much-needed boost to bravely release the record while vocal producer Relden Campanilla and vocal coach Heidi Pogoy skilfully guided him in rendering those smooth melodies and hitting high notes.
"Ginhawa" is a juxtaposition of Tagalog and Bisaya lyrics that complement each other. It is borne out of a desire to speed up time so one could be with his beloved once again. Such lyrics are made more bittersweet with the slow tempo and catchy beats.
