BEAUTY queen Ann Colis has brought pride and honor to the country in 2015 when she took home the first-ever Miss Globe crown. After doing multiple projects abroad for several years, Ann is now ready to go full time and embrace whatever Philippine showbiz will have to offer her.

To get to know more about this 27-year-old stunner, here are five interesting facts about this next big thing in Philippine entertainment.

She’s an international model

After her reign as Miss Globe 2015, Ann pursued a career in modeling in Los Angeles and Europe.

“After Miss Globe, there was a management offer for modeling in Los Angeles (LA) so I took the chance. At that time, I want to experience some change in my career path. I stayed in LA for three years,” she said to select media in a recent virtual interview.

The beauty queen-model shared her modeling career abroad was a great experience as she was able to work with different creatives and brands. Pursuing a life outside the country also taught her to be more tough and independent.

She loves to travel

Like the majority of millennials, Ann loves to travel to learn more about culture and appreciate nature and arts.

“This time, I wanted to explore more about the Philippines. I’ve been away for many years. I want to see more of the Philippines,” she said.

Asked if she’s open to hosting, the Filipina beauty said, it is one of the many things she wants to try here.

“I am always open to possibilities when it comes to my career. Maybe a sports or travel program would be good. I actually want to host a show that tackles culture, food, and arts,” she said.

Ann added that some of the places on her travel list are Bohol, Dumaguete, Camiguin, Baguio, and Pampanga.

Pure Filipina beauty

Ann shared that when she’s modeling abroad, she has been mistaken by people as a Latina because of her looks. People thought she’s a girl from Brazil, Venezuela or Colombia.

“But no, I’m from Mexico, Pampanga. I’m 100-percent Filipina,” she quipped.

This Kapampangan beauty studied at the University of Santo Tomas with a degree in Management Accounting.

She was part of ‘Ballers’

Probably one of the highlights of her career abroad is landing a character in Ballers, an HBO comedy-drama television series starring Dwayne Johnson.

She was part of the crew of comedian Russell Brand in the series.

“It was a memorable experience. Kinilig ako nung nag-hi sa akin si Dwayne Johnson,” she narrated.

She added that the scenes where she was part were shot at Paramount Pictures.

She starred in Fluid

In 2020, this showbiz newbie accepted a lesbian role alongside Roxanne Barcelo in the digital miniseries Fluid on IWantTFC.

She said she did the project as a tribute to the LGBTQIA+ community.

“I did it because it is a challenging role, but what made me decide to do it is because it’s somehow my appreciation to LGBT community. I am where I am because of their support when I was still doing pageants,” she said.

At present, Ann is under Virtual Playground management, a talent agency led by Dondon Monteverde and Charlie Dy.

From winning a crown, Ann wants to give her all now to acting to realize another dream which is to own an acting award.

“That's the goal, to be the most sought-after leading lady of the film industry and hopefully get recognized in acting,” she emphasized.

Currently, Ann is doing acting workshops and reading various scripts one day at a time.

“I’m willing to always listen because I’m new here. Moving forward, I’ll just put my A-game n a sense that I’ll continue to learn in this field, industry,” she said.

She mentioned that some of the big names that she wanted to work with in the future are Bea Alonzo, Iza Calzado, John Arcilla, and Paulo Avelino.

“I’m now ready and I’m confident because I trust the vision of my management,” she said.
