Cops nab 3 in possession of firearm, illegal drugs

OPERATIVES of the 2nd Zamboanga City Mobile Force Company arrested three people, including a woman, and seized a firearm and illegal drugs in Zamboanga City, the police reported Thursday, August 12, 2021.

Arrested were Zuiber Ismael Kamlian, 48; Adam Hassan Baduwi, 44; and Ester Jailani Abdulgapar, 46, according to Police Brigadier General Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director.

Ylagan said the police were conducting seaborne patrol when they arrested the three suspects around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, near Tumalutap Island, one of the 11 islands east of this city.

Ylagan said the three suspects, who were aboard a Jungkong-type motorboat, were arrested following a chase at high seas as they sped off in an attempt to evade the patrolling policemen.

He said recovered from the possession of Kamlian were one sling bag, one caliber .45 pistol with ammunition, two medium-size heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu and a coin purse.

Ylagan said seized from Baduwi were a coin purse, and 28 small-size heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu.

He said found in the possession of Abdulgafar were one multi-colored big pouch, five medium-size heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu, a coin purse, one digital weighing scale, and other illegal drug paraphernalia.

He said the suspects were turned over Thursday to the Zamboanga City Police Office’s Station 4 for proper disposition while the confiscated pistol and illegal drugs were forwarded to the Regional Crime Laboratory-Zamboanga Peninsula.

He added that the motorboat is temporarily under the custody of 2nd Zamboanga City Mobile Force Company for safekeeping. (SunStar Zamboanga)
